Marion Clark Weathers has painted all her life. She is a graduate of the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia, and has continued study in masterclass workshops at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia and at Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. She is a Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and a member of the Impressionist Painters Society. In a ten-year project, she created the drawings for a series of travel guidemaps for MapEasy, Inc. in East Hampton, NY. In addition to her studio painting schedule, she is currently collaborating with storyteller Leigh Ballance on a series of children’s books. Their first book, The Secret of Gum Swamp, set in rural Hyde County, North Carolina, was released in 2016.
Weathers shows her work primarily in galleries and juried exhibitions across North Carolina. Most days she can be found painting in her studio beside Goose Creek Lake in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
